Per Georg «PG» Johansen
The man behind it
Many know Per Georg Johansen as PG from Farmen on TV 2 — where he came across as a down-to-earth, practical and capable man with both feet firmly in nature. But those who really know him, know him from the hunting community.
PG has hunted since he was a young boy, and it is not a hobby — it is a way of life. Driven hunts for wild boar in Polish winter forests, stalking Berber boar in the Atlas mountains, long days on stand with coffee in a thermos — he has done it all, and still does it every season.
“I have never sold a trip I would not have gone on myself. That is the entire business model — and I will never deviate from it.”
It is this genuine passion that is the foundation of Venator Tours. PG has built the company stone by stone since 1995, with uncompromising quality standards and a network of guides, grounds and test hunters cultivated over decades. When you book a trip here, you speak with people who have actually been in the terrain — not a call centre.
Philosophy
We do not have a large organisation that is expensive to run. That means we can offer you who are genuinely devoted to good hunting — trips at the right prices. Our policy is to test every area ourselves before inviting you to join us. We consider this quality control both right and necessary.
There are plenty of ugly examples of driven hunts run 15–16 times a year in the same area. You will never experience that on a trip with us. When we run test hunts, this is clearly stated in the listing — so you know before you book that the quality of the grounds is somewhat uncertain.
We will not drive prices down and sell cheap. We offer hunts from the mid-range to the most exclusive. Anyone can sell cheap, but unfortunately the hunt often ends up matching the price. As elsewhere in life: you get what you pay for.
Whether you hunt at a fixed price or by price list, we will always tell you in advance if game has been released in the area. We base the customer relationship on honesty — no surprises.
What we stand for
Venator Tours is run by people who have hunting as a hobby and a passion. We have never aimed to be the biggest — we want to be the best.
The head office is staffed almost all the time. Call or email any day — we reply quickly whenever we can.
We test all new areas before they are offered. Many grounds are hunted 15–16 times a year; you will never experience that with us.
We are not the cheapest — but we always tell you in advance if game has been released in the area. No surprises.
How we work
We travel out and try every destination ourselves before offering it. No trip on sale without one of us having been there.
On every single trip one of us is with you — from departure to return. You are never alone with language or logistics.
Established grounds and guides we have worked with for many years. Ethics, safety and quality before anything else.
Norwegian regulations, proper insurance and transparency about payment. You know what you are paying for.
Tour leaders
There are four of us who rotate on the trips. You meet one of us at the airport and have the same person by your side until you are safely back home.
"I hunt every weekend I get the chance. The trips we sell are trips I would have gone on myself."
"I thrive in the driven-hunt tradition. Polish forests have a calm all their own."
"The Atlas mountains offer hunting with character — demanding terrain, rare species."
"High-seat hunts and European driven-hunt traditions — that is where my heart is."
Our test hunters
Venator Tours has an established group of experienced hunters who test new countries and grounds for us. They are specially selected to evaluate new grounds, and their judgement is decisive for whether we add the hunt to our range.
Wondering if a specific destination is worth trying? Send us a message — and we will tell you which test hunters have been there, and you can talk to them directly. No other operator offers this quality control.
All our test hunters carry a dedicated badge documenting that they are specially qualified.
