Driven hunting is an intense form of hunting that requires good preparation, and the first few hours in the stand often determine how the rest of the day will unfold. We have gathered some advice for you who are heading out in the 2026/2027 season.

Clothing comes first. Winter hunts in Poland and Sweden can fluctuate from mild rain to strong wind in the same morning, and you often sit still for long periods. Several thin layers of wool and a waterproof outer shell beat one thick garment every time. A good high-visibility jacket, hearing protection, and warm gloves that allow you to operate the trigger are also essential.

The rifle should be zeroed and familiar. A light, balanced rifle with a powerful calibre and a scope with a wide field of view gives you the seconds you need when an animal comes at speed through dense forest. Ammunition should be a recognised expanding projectile suitable for deer or wild boar, depending on the trip.

Safety is non-negotiable. The rules regarding shooting angles, distances, and alcohol consumption are absolute, and violations will result in exclusion from the rest of the hunt. We recommend that you read through our safety rules well in advance of departure, and that you review routines for loading, securing, and carrying in light snow.

Finally, the paperwork. Passport, European firearms pass β€” which is not required in Poland β€” Norwegian firearms licence, and proof of firearms insurance must be included. Ammunition should be packed separately from the firearm, and it is advisable to have everything gathered in a folder so that check-in and border crossing go smoothly.

See you in the forest.
